BenTibbetts's News

Posted by BenTibbetts - July 3rd, 2012

Hello Newgrounders,

Gi-Go has released his latest short animation, The Muffin Man, featuring an original score by yours truly. Go watch this incredible film. Or else.

I've finally finished a big update to my website. I've been chipping away on these changes for almost two months. New content includes 30+ hours of new music under a "Composition Portfolio", an altered version of the original layout and the beginnings of a blog.

Tracks uploaded since the last news post include the following:
***Ode to the Interviewer is my reorchestration of a tune by the very talented sorohanro. (The original version of this piece has been featured as the theme song to the Newgrounds Interviewer.)
***Deep-C and Shark Patrol both come from a now-scrapped soundtrack to alwayssim's upcoming "Shark Survival" game, which should be pretty good even if it doesn't feature my music. ;)

By the way, if you want to receive notifications when I upload content, put me under your Favorite Artists by clicking that little heart icon next to the "__Fans" button at the top of the screen. You may also wish to follow me on Twitter or Facebook.

That's all for now. Good night everyone.

Sincerely,
Ben

Update 7/3: The Muffin Man

Hello Newgrounders,

For those of you who didn't catch my interview last week with The-Great-One, here's a link to the post made on the TheInterviewer account:

READ THE INTERVIEW

This was a good experience, both because I got to know The-Great-One a little bit and because it represented a chance for me to express some of my thoughts regarding music in a public space. Thanks also to Tom (or to whomever's in charge of this stuff!) for the Front Page feature.

In other news, since my last update I've posted a couple new audio tracks:
***Peanut Bummer Jam is a short blues-like track, first inspired by the "Mr. Munn" character proposed by Uebie in the forums a few months ago.
***Junkyard Chase Scene is a track from my soundtrack to Metal Mayhem, an upcoming game by Nonsuch Games.
***Four on Four is an electrorchestral video game track with complex meters.
***Watercolor Woods is a short orchestral loop inspired by some of the imagery in "Avatar", first commissioned by smitchell94 for an as-of-yet unnamed iPhone game.

Right now I'm working on a big update to my website which will represent the addition of many hours of original music, so that's taking up a lot of my time these days. ;)
Stay tuned!

Sincerely,
Ben

Hello again Newgrounders,

It's been a busy month! A lot of my time has been spent working with filmmaker Brian Burke on the score for a new short film, and I'm happy to say our work is finally finished!

Watch the film, "No Good Deed Goes Unpunished" on YouTube:

Update 3/30: New Short Film

Posted by BenTibbetts - February 26th, 2012

Hello again Newgrounders,

Sadly, my vacation is over as of today and it's back to work on a handful of simultaneous video game OST's. Here are some updates regarding the progress I've made on some of the larger projects. I have been very busy this past month working on some promising video game and film projects which I'd like to share with you all, so bear with me while I try not to forget anyone!

I have finished the score for Metal Mayhem, an upcoming freeware game by Nonsuch Games. (The soundtrack features the remarkable Pots & Pans VST by spacedad.) To learn more about Nonsuch Games and play some of the past releases visit www.nonsuchgames.com. I have already uploaded the first of the OST's three tracks here to Newgrounds; the other two tracks will be made available as soon as the game is released to the public.

I have also finished the soundtrack for Survivor Reborn, an upcoming HTML5 release by SoulSnatcher. The game is a remake of Soulsnatcher's popular downloadable game Survivor.

And here are some of the work-in-progress projects, for which I'm contributing original music:
****The Spyro-esque game Draco Chronicles: Unbalance (screenshot shown below, read an interview with the game's creator on IndieGraph, visit the project forums)
****Most Wanted, an open-source Grand Theft Auto-style engine (visit the developer's devlog on the Game Maker Community forums)
****Uebie's upcoming flash surrounding his "Mr. Munn" character (view a short animated sample on DeviantArt)
****An unannounced iOS game with SMitchell94 (in which the game publisher Chillingo has happily expressed some interest)
****The new still-untitled stone-throwing Flashpunk game by Unlogic (read more about the game on the FlashPunk forums, play the demo or view the developer's blog)
****A new short by filmmaker Brian Burke (see his previous films A Trojan Odyssey and Just Another Dream Of Mine)
****And some unannounced upcoming flash projects by Legodude2000, DingoWalleyStudio, Alwayssim, NobleOneNinja, and Smelly Cat Studios.

Finally, I'd like to showcase the online interview I recently conducted with SantoNinoDeCebu on his personal approach to game development, which I have posted on my website.

Now, it's time to unpack!

Sincerely,
Ben
